| Prequalifying for | The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking
qualification statements from general contractors for the
School of Business - McColl Building Addition and Renovation
project
This project consists of a comprehensive renovation of the
existing McColl Building at the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill, encompassing approximately 130,000 gross
square feet. With the adjacent Bell Hall addition now
complete and operational, this phase of work advances the
modernization of the original McColl facility to align with
the Kenan-Flagler Business School's expanded
instructional, technological, and programmatic needs.
The scope of work is primarily interior renovation and
reconfiguration of academic, administrative, and support
spaces to meet contemporary pedagogical standards and ensure
consistency with the design and performance benchmarks
established in Bell Hall. The project will address
accessibility upgrades, building systems integration, and
infrastructure improvements, including coordination and
connection of mechanical, electrical, and life safety
systems with Bell Hall. The renovation will create cohesive,
modernized learning environments that support the
School's growth while enhancing functionality, code
compliance, and long-term operational performance.
In addition to interior renovations, the project includes
targeted exterior site and envelope improvements. Site work
will address accessibility and circulation through selective
curb and gutter replacement, minor regrading, repaving of
parking areas, and landscape restoration. Exterior envelope
enhancements include partial roof replacement at Koury
Auditorium, window gasketing and joint sealant replacement,
and masonry repointing to improve building performance,
durability, and weather resistance.
To qualify, the contractor must have a general
contractor's license in the State of North Carolina as
well as applicable bonding requirements. The contractor must
show comparable work experience, both in complexity and
dollar value, and preferably in a university campus
environment, to the scope of work outlined above.
To be considered, the contractor must obtain an application
package from the UNC Facilities Project Manager and submit a
fully completed qualification document by 2pm March 20, 2026
to Michael Ambrose, Project Manager,
