Project Description | One-Two Sentences UNC Greensboro is seeking letters of interest from qualified
professionals for the project titled Walker Parking Deck
Water Intrusion Repairs. The purpose of this project is to
investigate and address ongoing water intrusion issues at
two stair towers of the parking deck and a roof replacement
at the attached single story office wing.
The scope of work includes full designer services. At the
main deck stair, an HVAC system is to be designed and
installed to address persistent humidity issues affecting
the lobby and stairwell across all levels. Evaluation and
updates to the building's envelope, targeting the
replacement of approximately 500 square feet of curtainwall
and glazing, is required. Additional improvements will
include mitigation of ongoing issues, such as: fogged
windows, repair or replacement of rusted materials, and
elimination of any safety hazards. The focus at a second
stair will be to identify and remedy leaks on the uppermost
level. The project will include investigation and necessary
repairs or replacements to the building's envelope and
drainage systems to prevent water intrusion.
In addition to the water intrusion issues in the parking
deck, leaks have also been identified in the office area. As
part of this project, the office roof will undergo a
comprehensive inspection to determine the source of leaks,
and the scope to correct will be identified based on the
outcome of the field investigation and designer
recommendations.
These professional design services will ensure long-term
structural integrity and improved facility conditions to the
Walker Parking Deck.
