 Project Description One-Two Sentences
The intent of this project is to replace the low slope, built-up roof that is located in the center of the building and surrounded on three sides by a sloped slate roof. This roof was installed in approximately 1998, and several roof leaks have been reported. The sloped slate roof is in good condition and does not require replacement or repair. The existing roof structures do not have a permanent fall protection system. For the safety of maintenance staff, a permanent fall protection system should be installed on the low slope roof and the slate roof. This project has been approved by the UNC-Chapel Hill Board of Trustees for an initial advanced planning stage to create a more accurate cost estimate and budget for the full replacement. The intent is to engage the selected design team for full design services upon successful completion of the Advance Planning Phase and receipt of additional funding authority, at the university's option. Key deliverables include identifying detailed scope of issues on roof, advanced planning level drawings and documentation, and development of project cost estimates.
