| One-Two Sentences The George Watts Hill Alumni Center, which is the home of
Carolina Alumni, UNC's alumni association, occupies a
unique position within the University of North Carolina
campus. Located near Kenan Memorial Stadium on Stadium drive
in the center of campus, the facility serves as both a
gathering place for alumni and a gateway for visitors
experiencing Carolina for the first time. Over the years,
the building has hosted countless alumni events,
celebrations, and campus milestones, establishing it as an
important hub for connection and community. As the
University continues to expand engagement with alumni,
prospective students, and visitors, there is the opportunity
to evolve the Alumni Center into a more welcoming and
visible front door to campus as well as enable more active,
multi-functional building utilization.
This project envisions a comprehensive renovation of the
Alumni Center and the Carolina Club (home of a private
restaurant, bar, ballroom, & event space) both totaling
approximately 68,750-sf, and a new Addition of approximately
27,500-sf to house the UNC Visitors Center and UNC
Admissions Offices, which combined will be known as the UNC
Welcome Center.
At this time, it is expected that the construction effort
will be performed by a Construction Manager at Risk (CMR),
to be selected via public advertisement (SCO) process at a
later date.
This capital improvement project has current Authority of
$5.5-m for Advance Planning services only. The selected
firm may be retained through full design and construction at
the University's options.
UNC is seeking statements of qualifications from Architect
led project teams, including engineering disciplines as
follows:
1. Site/ Civil
2. Building Envelope Specialist
3. Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Alarm, Fire
Suppression, Telecommunications
