More mobile freezers for COVID-19 vaccine storage deployed throughout UNC System

CHAPEL HILL, NC – New mobile freezers capable of capable of safely storing and transporting COVID-19 vaccine vials will soon arrive at all 15 research institutions within the UNC System. The N.C. Division of Emergency Management left the UNC-Chapel Hill loading dock this morning and currently is transporting 23 mobile cold-storage units throughout state in support of Operation Deep Freeze.

Historically Minority-Serving Institutions receive first mobile freezers for COVID-19 vaccine

he UNC System’s six historically minority-serving institutions have each received a new mobile freezer capable of safely storing and transporting COVID-19 vaccine vials. These six freezers represent the first of 62 scheduled to arrive in the state in the coming months as part of Operation Deep Freeze.

UNC System expanding COVID-19 vaccine storage capacity at all 15 research institutions

CHAPEL HILL, NC – All 15 research institutions within the UNC System will soon be receiving 61 new freezers capable of safely storing COVID-19 vaccines at temperatures as low as -80 Celsius (-112 Fahrenheit). The freezers will support state and local public health agencies, hospitals, and pharmacies with the critical logistics of sub-zero storage and subsequent distribution of COVID-19 vaccines that started arriving in North Carolina this past week.

Dr. Philip G. Rogers Named 12th Chancellor of East Carolina University

One of Greenville’s own, Dr. Philip G. Rogers, has been elected the 12th Chancellor of East Carolina University. During today’s regular meeting of the UNC Board of Governors, UNC System President Peter Hans nominated Dr. Rogers for the post. The Board of Governors of the 17-institution University of North Carolina System elected him unanimously.
