Religious Exemption

Religious Exempt Institutions

These institutions operate degrees which have been declared by the appropriate state authority exempt from the requirements for licensure under provisions of G.S. 116-15(d), for exemption from licensure with respect to religious education. Exemption from licensure is not based upon assessment of program quality under established licensing standards.

This exemption may not apply to all programs offered at the institution. You may contact state authorization staff at stateauthorization@northcarolina.edu for information about which programs have been declared exempt or to report any institutions not listed that may be operating unlawfully.
