Isaiah Green

Isaiah Green, of Charlotte, NC, was appointed to serve on the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina System as an ex-officio member. His term will end in May 2021.

Green will serve on the Educational Planning, Polices, and Programs Committee and the Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs.

Green is a senior at the University of North Carolina Asheville, majoring in management, and said his favorite class so far has been Organizational Behavior and Theory, where he studied successful business practices from a social science perspective.

He is currently the president of the Association of Student Governments. No stranger to hard work, Green was elected in March, 2019, to be the UNC Asheville's first-ever first-year student body president, making him the youngest to hold that office in UNC System history. In this role, he served on the university's Master Planning Committee, University Budget Committee, Foundation Board, Endowment Audit, Finance Committee, and Board of Trustees.

Green strives to approach every endeavor with a drive and commitment to excellence. His passion for entrepreneurship led him to start his own business, Full Circle Nation LLC, at the age of 15. The merchandising and artist promotion company, which targets Gen-Z and Millennial audiences, built a direct-to-consumer lifestyle clothing line on Instagram. Its first line of clothing sold out within 72 hours of launch. The company created a community of 3,000 brand enthusiasts within the first two years. Full Circle Nation has also designed collateral materials, including artwork and logos, for the Asheville Buncombe Community Land Trust and other community businesses.

Also active in the Asheville community, Green is a current intern at Dogwood Health Trust, and has previously served as a communications intern at Hatch AVL Foundation. He is a member of the Human Relations Commission of Asheville, which serves as an advisory board to the city council. The Charlotte native has served as a volunteer at Hood Huggers International, a local nonprofit focusing on building greater communication, connection and wealth in systemically marginalized neighborhoods in Appalachia. There he worked with local youth on the social enterprise program and helped students learn financial literacy skills and business plan development.

Green said his aspiration to serve as the ASG president began when he attended an ASG meeting shortly after he first arrived at UNC Asheville. Now that he has been elected to the position, he looks forward to representing the nearly 250,000 students across the UNC System. He plans to focus on ways to improve affordability and access for all students seeking a four-year degree, as well as invest in the UNC System's long-term financial and environmental sustainability.

Green attended N.C. A&T State University's prestigious STEM Early College in Greensboro and is expected to graduate UNC Asheville in May 2021. He has accepted a 2020 summer intern position at Converse, Inc. in Boston, MA, and is interested in starting his career as an associate brand manager at a consumer-packaged goods firm or athletic company. He also plans to pursue his MBA in the future. In his free time, he enjoys reading books on business - specifically consumer-packaged goods, big tech and economics.

His advice to today's student:
"Take every failure and success over these years and allow for them to inform what is truly important to you and how you want to make an impact in this world."
