Kathryn Crisp Greeley
Kathryn Crisp Greeley, of Waynesville, North Carolina, was appointed in 2024 to serve as a member of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors.
Greeley is a proud alum of Western Carolina University, where she received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Interior Design. She is the owner of Kathryn Greeley Designs, a full-service interior design firm, and is the author of two books, "The Collected Tabletop" and "The Collected Cottage." Her design work has been featured in magazines such as Southern Home, Victoria, Traditional Home, Country Home, Carolina Home + Garden, Our State, Southern Living, At Home in Arkansas, Texas Home, and Living.
Greeley served as an adjunct faculty member in the Interior Design major at WCU, teaching classes in the History of Furniture and Professional Practice. She has been active in university governance, serving on the WCU Board of Trustees from 2019-24, and sitting as chair of that board from 2023-24. She also served on the WCU Foundation Board as an ex-officio member, and on the advisory board for WCU's Interior Design Program. She is a strong supporter of the university and has been involved in Friends of the Arts and the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band. She also sponsors a WCU scholarship in memory of her parents French and Margaret Crisp, as well as an endowment for interior design students to study abroad.
Greeley is a past president of the North and South Carolina Chapter of the American Society of Designers, the Waynesville Altrusa Club, and the Haywood County Arts Council.
Passionate about education, Greeley plans to advocate for Western Carolina University and the western region of the state during her time on the Board of Governors. She cares deeply about access and affordability for all students and will focus her efforts on student retention, return on investment, and low debt for students after graduation. She is also committed to meeting the needs of nontraditional students.
Greeley lives in Waynesville with her husband, Wells. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, reading, public speaking, and Pilates.
Her advice to students: "Choose a career that you are passionate about and then work hard and never stop learning."
