The UNCW Swain Center for Executive Education and Economic Development is offering valuable new resources to help business leaders and alumni lead in today’s volatile market.
The center has launched several enhanced resources and services, from online leadership videos to executive coaching. These services are offered in response to feedback the Swain Center staff received from hundreds of business leaders to determine how best to prepare leaders, teams and organizations for the challenges ahead.
“Our goal remains as focused as ever: to create a competitive advantage for our business community and our alumni,” said Richard Walsh, director of the Swain Center. “Today, leaders need relevant and applicable development strategies as well as best practices. These new services will do exactly that, helping our clients and alumni succeed in these challenging times. Their success is our success.”
Programming includes:
- The Excellence in Leadership Series, a collection of complimentary, brief videos on critical strategies needed to lead in today’s environment. Topics include leading in crisis, communicating vision, rapid realignment, resiliency, and more. The series is in partnership with The Leaders’ Counsel, The Forte Institute, HW Consulting and Cassian Films.
- Business-focused online programs that allow leaders to access the Swain Center’s most popular in-person programs from anywhere at any time. Programs include leveraging business analytics, determining today’s new realities, anticipating emerging trends and leading critical projects.
- The Leadership Essentials for Nurses program, which provides frontline health care workers an opportunity to develop their leadership skills online, at their convenience. The program is a partnership with the South East Area Health Education Center (SEAHEC) and UNCW’s College of Health and Human Services.
- Executive coaching offered to senior leaders and includes one pro bono coaching session. The Swain Center selected a team of top-notch, certified coaches from the region and across the country to help provide this valuable service.
The Swain Center will continue to offer customized solutions at reduced rates for organizations that may need additional support. The center has engaged a group of highly skilled experts and UNCW faculty members to support these efforts.

The Excellence in Leadership Series is one example of the innovative services now offered.”

The Swain Center was formed 10 years ago through a generous donation from David and Diane Swain to UNCW’s Cameron School of Business, with a mission to provide executive education and economic development to the greater Wilmington area and UNCW alumni.
