FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 2, 2019
CHAPEL HILL, NC – UNC System Presidential Search Committee Co-Chairs Wendy Murphy and Randy Ramsey have announced that Kimberly W. Strach has been appointed director of the UNC System Presidential Search Committee. Strach will begin this role effectively immediately.
“Kim is the perfect choice to serve as director, due to her outstanding record of professional service of nearly two decades at the N.C. State Board of Elections, her integrity and her exemplary professional reputation,” committee co-chairs Randy Ramsey and Wendy Murphy said in a joint statement.
For the past 19 years, Strach has served on the N.C. State Board of Elections, first as an elections investigator and later as deputy director of campaign finance. In 2013, she was appointed as executive director of the board, a position she held until May, 31, 2019. In this capacity, she oversaw all 100 county board of elections in North Carolina in the administration of elections and statewide compliance of campaign finance laws. In 2007, she received The Democracy Award from Common Cause North Carolina.
Strach graduated from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
“I want to thank the committee for appointing me and providing me the opportunity to serve,” Strach said. “I am confident that this committee will discover the perfect candidate to lead the UNC System as President.”
