Event will be held at University of North Carolina Asheville

RALEIGH, N.C. – High school seniors affected by Hurricane Helene can receive help with the college application process at a free special event in Asheville this month.

College Day will be held on Sunday, Nov. 17, 12-4 p.m., at the Highsmith Student Union at UNC Asheville. Free registration is available here. The event is sponsored by the University of North Carolina System.

During College Day, representatives from the UNC System, UNC System universities and the College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) will be available in person and virtually to provide personalized assistance with applications to the state’s public universities, as well as help with transcript submission and financial aid information. Laptops will be available on-site, although attendees are encouraged to bring their own if possible.

“We understand the unique circumstances of students in Western North Carolina,” said Peter Hans, president of the UNC System. “College Day is our way of reaching out and providing support to these students. We want to ensure that they have every opportunity to pursue their higher education goals.”
