Committee will begin work to identify candidates to lead NC State
RALEIGH, N.C. – University of North Carolina System President Peter Hans today announced the formation of a 13-member committee that will search for the next chancellor of NC State University.
Ed Stack, a 1992 NC State alumnus and vice chair of the university’s Board of Trustees, will chair the search advisory committee.
“I’m grateful to Mr. Stack for his willingness to chair this committee in a vital task ahead,” Hans said. “I also want to thank Mr. Weisiger for his leadership of the Board of Trustees and his service to this committee. Both are staunch supporters of the university, and we are fortunate to have a committed and talented group ready to find the next leader of the Pack.”
“I am looking forward to working with my fellow committee members to assist President Hans in finding the next leader of NC State University,” said Stack. “Chancellor Woodson has built a tremendous legacy over his 14 plus years and I am certain that we can find someone who will build upon that legacy and push NC State to new heights in engineering, agriculture, research, scholarship, innovation and economic development.”
The committee was assembled following the recent announcement by Chancellor Randy Woodson that he would retire in 2025 in his 15th year as NC State’s leader.
Under UNC System policy, the search advisory committee is composed of up to 13 voting members, including representatives of the trustees, faculty, staff, students and alumni. The committee also calls for a current or former chancellor of a UNC System institution to serve, as well as members of the UNC Board of Governors and the president or his designee.
There will be opportunities for public input during the search process, including an online survey and in-person listening sessions held in the upcoming fall semester.
