The University of North Carolina Wilmington has been approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education to establish a dual degree program between UNCW and Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences (CUAS) in Chongqing, China, the university announced today.
More than 500 universities from around the world submitted proposals to their partner institutions in China. UNCW is one of just a handful of U.S. higher education institutions approved to offer joint programs in a variety of academic disciplines by the Chinese Ministry of Education. The ministry approved 34 higher education institutions globally – only eight in the United States. Those schools include UNCW, Tulane, Michigan Technological University and University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.
The effort to establish a partnership with CUAS began during Chancellor Jose Sartarelli’s first recruiting trip to China in fall 2016, said Michael Wilhelm, associate vice chancellor of international programs.
