 Project Description One-Two Sentences
This project consists of replacing existing failed 8-steam and 4-condensate that was originally installed in 1995. Project also includes the installation of 3 new manholes as existing are failing (leaking ground water) and are too small for safe access/maintenance and modifications to an existing steam tunnel where the steam line crosses. This section of main piping is the last of the original installed piping when the Student Recreation Center was built on Main Campus in 1995. All other downstream piping of this originally installed piping has been replaced. This section of campus, around the Central Campus Warehouse, is very sensitive operationally and has significant pedestrian traffic daily. We anticipate a significant amount of unforeseen conditions with abandoned utilities and other unknown conditions as this part of campus is very old and documents of existing conditions are few. Site logistics will be difficult and will require much longer durations and temporary conditions than typical. Bypass steam connections will be required at three existing manholes while new manholes are constructed. Construction is expected to take 9 months.
