| Project Description | | One-Two Sentences
This project seeks to transform two iconic open spaces at
the historic core of the Chapel Hill campus. The Koch
Memorial Forest Theatre, a century-old amphitheater, will be
comprehensively renovated to meet contemporary standards and
allow for extended programs while a re-imagined arbor at
Coker Arboretum will create a new identity along Cameron
Avenue. The Forest Theatre renovation will include
rebuilding the stage, adding stage canopy, upgrading sound
and lighting systems, improving accessibility, and adding
toilet facilities.
The Arboretum renovation will include arbor and sidewalk
reconstruction. Current project authorization is for
advance planning only. The selected firm may be retained
through full design and construction at the
university's option. | |
