Project Description | One-Two Sentences UNC Asheville is seeking proposals from qualified
Professional Campus Planners/Designers for the development
of a comprehensive master plan to include the following:
-a direct connection to the University's Strategic
Plan, including the four strategic directions of Academic
Rigor, Student Success, Community Engagement, and
Organizational capacity, and the inclusion of the core
values of diversity and inclusion, innovation, and
sustainability.
-an understanding of the University's various elements
of capacity and potential/desire for future growth; current
FTE enrollment is 3,497 undergraduates and 17 graduate
students
-a plan to better utilize facilities to integrate academics,
student life, athletics, and the arts, taking into account
evolving student requirements and future programmatic needs,
including, but not limited to, campus resources for
issue-related conversations, athletic events, arts, and
performance experiences
-an assessment and prioritization of existing and new
building needs, which includes a plan for creating an image
and appearance for university facilities that is appealing,
inviting, and promotes the recruitment of diverse learners.
-a process for allocating and budgeting space as a core
resource to maximize space utilization
-an assessment and prioritization of core infrastructure
needs in light of emerging technologies and safety
considerations
-a plan to effectively use the University's peripheral
properties, and to ensure the integration of campus
development with the community surrounding the University
-a campus parking and transportation plan that considers
pedestrian and bicycle access and addresses the needs of
both those working/living on campus and those visiting for
the first time.
The University intends to shortlist designers by May 2, 2018
and interview them the week of May 28. The University
desires to have the master planning process complete and a
final report submitted by August 30, 2019.

Note: Please submit FIVE (5) paper copies and a digital copy
(flash drive) of your proposal.
Proposals should address the following:
a) Specialized or appropriate expertise in comprehensive
master planning
b) Past performances on similar projects
c) Adequate staff and proposed design or consultant team for
the project including preferred partners with specialized
expertise
d) Current workload and State projects awarded
e) Proposed design approach for the project including design
team and consultants
f) Recent experience with project costs and schedules
g) Construction administration capabilities
h) Proximity to and familiarity with the area where project
is located
i) Record of successfully completed projects without major
legal or technical problems
j) Other factors that may be appropriate for the project | |||||
