The Office of Research and Graduate Education is a resource for the UNC System's researchers and administrators in research policy and graduate education. Working with internal and external stakeholders, we develop System partnerships in areas of strategic importance, shape effective policies, and advocate for research and graduate education.

Ms. Bhakta serves as the applications programmer for electronic sponsored research administration tools, including RAMSeS.  Sweta consults with campus users, provides technical support, and develops and implements technical solutions.

Daniel J. Hurley

Mr. Hurley serves as the Environmental Health and Safety Director at the North Carolina Research Campus located in Kannapolis, N.C.   In this role, he coordinates Environmental Health and Safety activities with Campus Partners ensuring a consistent level of guidance, implementation and compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations concerning Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental and Emergency Management. He provides a campus interface with Home campuses, public safety and regulatory agencies for Environmental, Health and Safety concerns.

Cassandra Jones
Sponsored Programs Accountant | 919-843-5187
Ms. Jones serves as the accountant and reports to the Director of Sponsored Programs. Assists with proposal development and review, subrecipient management (establishment and monitoring), transaction testing for administrative and financial compliance, review of high risk transactions prior to posting, budget monitoring, accounts receivable and F&A calculations processes, training and review/update of processes and procedures regarding sponsored programs.

Traci Porter

Ms. Porter serves as the applications programmer for AIR, IRBIS and IACUC electronic sponsored research administration tools. Traci consults with campus users, provides technical support, and develops and implements technical solutions.

Sarah Smith
Director of Sponsored Programs | 919-962-4557
Sponsored Programs is responsible for all facets of pre- and post-award administration for contracts and grants awarded to the UNC System, including proposal and budget development, award negotiations, regulatory compliance, post-award functions and financial compliance, and is primary liaison between UNC System program directors and sponsors. Ms. Smith serves as the contract and grant process advisory lead for the UNC System Business Process Compliance Program and also leads the Sponsored Programs and Research Council providing a venue for policy and emerging trend discussions and content area training.

Executive Director

He/she serves as the Executive Director at the North Carolina Research Campus located in Kannapolis, N.C. In this role, he/she coordinates diverse campus partners, plans strategically to identify and address critical campus priorities, and works to achieve outlined objectives by driving strategic plans forward. He/she also provides management, budgeting and facilities leadership to support UNC System partners.

Tisha Wallace
Director of Research Information Systems | 919-843-5100
Ms. Wallace directs implementation and usage of web-based sponsored research administration tools at the System's sixteen universities. Supports development of responses to requests for information on UNC System sponsored research and related data.
