UNC Sponsored Programs Database
The Sponsored Programs and Research Council (SPARC) data system is the central repository of sponsored programs proposal and award data (fiscal year 1976 to the current fiscal year) for the 17 constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina and the UNC General Administration. The SPARC data system is designed to facilitate the exchange of key sponsored programs data within UNC and to make the data easily accessible to the public via summary and customized reports.
The SPARC data system can be found at http://sparc.northcarolina.edu/
The UNC Sponsored Programs Office has produced two tutorials on the most effective ways to utilize the Custom Reporting tool for the SPARC data system:
Using the Custom Reporting Tool | Downloading Results from the Custom Reporting Tool
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Reporting
Campus administrators interested in creating a custom report of ARRA-flagged proposals in SPARC may do so by following these instructions.
Members of the general public interested in finding details on ARRA proposals and awards for UNC institutions can find that information in the weekly UNC ARRA report.
Research Administration Management System and eSubmission (RAMSeS)
UNC Chapel Hill's Office of Research Information Systems is currently in the process of developing a comprehensive Electronic Research Administration (eRA) system, and implementing the system at UNC Institutions across the state. This new system will eventually replace the currently used SPARC system. Once the implementation is complete, sponsored programs proposal and award summary data will be accessable at this page. We expect the publically accessable summary data to be available here by Fall 2009. Publically accessable training materials for using this new resource will be available at that time.
To ease the campus transition from SPARC to RAMSeS, training materials and campus-produced RAMSeS resources will be gathererd for campus Sponsored Programs Officers. A link to these materials is forthcoming.
Access to resources will be limited to Sponsored Programs officers at this time. If you feel you should be included in this group, please email Erin Bristow, Assistant Director for Research at UNC General Administration's Office for Research and Sponsored Programs.
