Research in the Capital

Occuring biennially, the Research in the Capital Symposium is an opportunity for students from across the University to travel to Raleigh and demonstrate their undergraduate research experiences to North Carolina state legistlators. Each campus selects students from a broad range of disciplines to participate, focusing on research projects which are particularly relevant to social, economic, and cultural issues that impact North Carolina. The goals of the symposium are to highlight the important role of research in undergraduate education and the ensuing benefits to the state.

Students present their work to legistlators in a poster demonstration format, and a booklet of student abstracts is produced for the benefit of the legislators. Photos and abstract booklets from previous Research in the Capital symposia can be found below.

Due to the uniquely challenging economic climate of this spring, the 2009 Research in the Capital Symposium was canceled. The UNC Undergraduate Research Consortium plans to continue this event in the future, when appropriate.
