University of North Carolina Policy Manual
The Policy Manual of The University of North Carolina is a valuable reference tool for University administrators. Published periodically, this manual contains presidential regulations and guidelines, and policies promulgated by the Board of Governors, (previously known as administrative memoranda).
This document also contains The Code of the Board of Governors, the official governing document of The UNC Board of Governors. Section 18 of Chapter 1244 of the 1971 Session Laws for the State of North Carolina directed the Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina: to adopt, for itself and all constituent institutions, a code based upon the code of the University of North Carolina as it may exist prior to July 1, 1972, but modified in such ways as to the Board of Governors may deem desirable in order to take into account the practices and needs of all the constituent institutions.
The Policy Manual is published periodically by The University of North Carolina General Administration as a searchable document in Adobe Acrobat (3.x or greater) pdf format. (Download free Acrobat Reader). The Code is published in both pdf format and html.

Facilities Inventory and Utilization Study 2003
An annual publication from UNC General Administration since 1967, the Facilities Inventory and Utilization Study details the status of space in 79 North Carolina public and private institutions of higher education at the end of the drop-add period of the fall term at each college. This study also gives indications of the uses being made of the space and provides where feasible, norms and historical information for the past five years to enable institutions to make their own assessments of their facilities. The purposes of the study include providing facilities data to federal and state authorities, making data on North Carolina facilities available to other commissions for comparative purposes, and providing participating institutions with data which may be helpful to the management of their facilities.

Facilities Inventory and Utilization Manual
This manual constitutes a revision of the fourth edition of the 1979 North Carolina Facilities Inventory and Utilization Manual. It reflects modifications in both building and room concepts and classifications made in the Postsecondary Education Facilities Inventory and Classification Manual (November 1992) prepared in conjunction with the State Higher Education Executive Officers for publication by the National Center for Education Statistics. This NCES publication in turn updated the classification systems and definitions presented in the U.S. Office of Education Facilities Inventory and Classification Manual of 1973. The basic concepts presented in this edition of the N.C. manual remain consistent with the above national publications. An update of the national manual is due from NCES in 2006. The N.C. manual will be revised and updated to reflect any major changes at the national level.
This manual is formatted so it can be printed front and back. Blank pages have been inserted in the electronic version to make the chapter pages and illustrations print in the same order as the hardcopy version.
