On November 7, 2000 North Carolina voters overwhelmingly supported the $3.1-billion Higher
Education Improvement Bonds. This historic investment will allow the 16-campus University of North
Carolina and the 59 community college campuses to continue to provide the highest educational and
economic opportunities for our citizens. The voters of North Carolina delivered an unmistakable
expression of their values and priorities for the future. We are grateful for your support.

More than 73% of voters statewide cast their ballots in favor of the higher
education bonds. The bond issue passed in all 100 North Carolina counties by a margin of 60% or better.
