The University of North Carolina is committed to working with community, regional, and statewide partners to help lead the state through the challenges and opportunities our global economy offers.
We believe our campuses have a unique capacity and responsibility to produce high-quality graduates with the skills and abilities to work in our state’s most important businesses and organizations and to start new enterprises; to generate new ideas, processes, and technologies through the work of our faculty; and to work in partnership with businesses, agencies, and organizations throughout the state to create a better quality of life for all North Carolinians.
The work on economic transformation is a top priority of the UNC president and of the UNC Board of Governors. It is also a key element of the UNC Strategic Plan adopted by the UNC Board of Governors in January 2017. We are committed to meeting the needs of North Carolina in a variety of industry sectors and to create additional capacity to work with businesses, government and nonprofits to respond to their needs and anticipate future needs.
Our work at the University level is led by Kevin Howell. For questions about how UNC is engaged in economic transformation, please contact him.
For questions about how each individual campus is engaged in this work, or how they might assist you in your efforts, please contact the members of our Economic Transformation Council.
We look forward to working with you to help North Carolina to live out the words of its state toast, as a place “where the weak grow strong, and the strong grow great.” Let us know how we can help you.
