The UNC Defense Applications Group (UNCDAG) is a multi-disciplinary group of UNC faculty and staff who seek to solve applied research and development challenges presented by USASOC.
Applied Research Challenges: The UNCDAG will focus exclusively on Warfighter capability gaps and challenges identified by USASOC. While such capability gaps and challenges will align with USASOC priorities, resulting materiel solutions will ultimately benefit the special operations community, the Army community and the intelligence community. Such challenges include, but are not limited to, the following:
Force Protection, Soldier System, Medical
Command, Control, Communications, Computers (C4)
Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR)
Non-Lethal Engagement and Visual Augmentation
Unmanned Systems
Air/Ground Mobility
Breaching
Chemical/Biological/Radiological/Nuclear (CBRN) & Counterproliferation
Industry Advisory Council (IAC): The UNCDAG will invite private industry to serve in an advisory capacity to the Group. The Group will issue invitations as necessary at a later date.
Meetings: Quarterly meetings will be established to synchronize group efforts. Additional meetings may be required of individual group members in support of grants or contracts.
