UNC A: Biology research may lead to finding new cancer treatments

Associate professor of Biology Ted Meigs and his student researchers are making discoveries about protein interactions that eventually might lead to the development of new cancer-fighting drugs.  In a pristine cell biology lab in the Zeis Science and Multimedia Building, Meigs and four students are investigating the broad question of how cells in the human body communicate with each other. Their experiments on proteins that are known to affect cancer progression, such as G-alpha 12, could lead scientists to discover new drugs that could inhibit cancer growth and development.
