The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been named by a business trade magazine among the top universities in the United States for its work in nano- and microtechnology. "Small Times" magazine ranked UNC 5th in the "research" category in its 2009 University Report and Rankings. According to the magazine, its annual survey identifies which institutions are the "best of the best" in micro- and nanotechnology.
