ECU's incoming class has higher GPA, SAT scores

The number and caliber of students applying to East Carolina University continues to increase, Judi Bailey, senior executive director of Enrollment Management, told ECU's Board of Trustees April 17.  ECU received 18,712 applications for the incoming freshman class, an increase of nearly 20 percent from 2008, Bailey said.  The average freshman applicant admitted to ECU in 2009 has a high school grade point average of 3.227, which is .063 points higher than the average GPA in 2008, and an SAT score in critical reading and mathematics of 1077, a full 27 points above the average score in 2008.
