Grant to boost faculty development and student retention

A $2 million, two-year federal grant will bolster faculty development and retention of second-year students at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.  Eight faculty members have been awarded grants to continue their education during the spring 2009 semester through the U.S. Department of Education grant. Five staff members were hired this spring in the Center for Academic Excellence to strengthen advising and tutorial services for the second-year college experience. "The grant will have a significant impact on our ability to better serve our students," said Dr. William Gash, associate vice chancellor for
Academic Affairs and project director.
