UNC Faculty Assembly Resolution 2008-1
Honoring Sue Carpenter
WHEREAS, Sue Carpenter has served with distinction as the administrator responsible for managing the work of the Faculty Assembly and its interaction with General Administration; and
WHEREAS, in a few short years, Sue Carpenter has skillfully navigated significant changes within General Administration, including budget cuts, changing expectations, reorganization, and changes in key personnel and responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, during the same period, the Faculty Assembly has become increasingly active and its work has expanded to include more frequent meetings, more wide-ranging initiatives, and more complex tasks; and
WHEREAS, in all respects Sue Carpenter has not only managed day-to-day operations but has also quietly and effectively initiated important improvements in records management, program planning, budgeting, and communications; and
WHEREAS, Sue Carpenter has saved many a Faculty Assembly member from wandering in the dark and stormy nights, by arranging for hotel accommodations that are nearby, congenial, and within state budget requirements; and
WHEREAS, Sue Carpenter has been a wonderful colleague and friend to the leaders and members of the Faculty Assembly, and has always helped maintain good cheer; and
WHEREAS, Sue Carpenter demonstrated enormous skill, poise, grace, organization, and professional judgment, and has worked diligently and effectively to advance the mission of the Faculty Assembly and public higher education in North Carolina in challenging times; and
WHEREAS, Sue Carpenter has recently accepted a promotion and will henceforth work in the Office of the Secretary of the University; and
WHEREAS, Sue Carpenter will be greatly missed;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that
The Faculty Assembly extends its deepest thanks to Sue Carpenter for her many contributions and wishes her the best of success and happiness in her future endeavors.
