Resolution to Amend Section 103 of The Code Regarding Equality Of Opportunity

WHEREAS, Faculty Assembly Resolution 92-5 requested the President of the University of North Carolina to urge the chancellors of the constituent institutions to develop policies of non-discrimination on matters of sexual orientation; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Governors of the University has previously considered a policy of non-discrimination on matters of sexual orientation; and

WHEREAS, Federal law mandates non-discrimination on matters of age and physical disability; and

WHEREAS, these non-discrimination policies reflect equality of opportunity in the University but are not at present included in Section 103 of the University of North Carolina's Code;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the Faculty Assembly request that the President of the University urge the Board of Governors to amend The Code to reflect a policy of non-discrimination on matters of age, physical disability, and sexual orientation, as a part of Section 103.
