Resolution Honoring President C. D. Spangler, Jr.

WHEREAS, C. D. Spangler, Jr., has served with great distinction as President of The University of North Carolina from 1986 to 1997; and

WHEREAS, President Spangler has given unstintingly of his energy and time in the service of education; and

WHEREAS, President Spangler has been an effective, consistent, and persistent advocate for accessible and affordable education for all citizens of North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, President Spangler has always been open and responsive to the interests and needs of the faculty and students of The University of North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, President Spangler has energetically upheld the ideal of a free university in a free society;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Faculty Assembly of The University of North Carolina express its deep appreciation to President C. D. Spangler, Jr., for his strong and caring leadership over the past eleven years and extend to him its warmest best wishes for his continued personal happiness and professional success.
