RESOLUTION REGARDING BOARD OF GOVERNORS' 1995-97 BUDGET REQUEST

Whereas, the constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina serve the present and future needs of the State of North Carolina by graduating educated and productive citizens, and

Whereas, the proposed budget reductions will erode the quality of education offered by the constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina, and

Whereas, harm to the quality and availability of higher education in North Carolina will have permanent detrimental effects on the economic health of the State, and

Whereas, statewide budget cuts in recent years have failed to provide necessary support for education (e.g. teaching, libraries, and technology) for the University of North Carolina's growing student enrollment, and

Whereas, the economy of North Carolina is expanding significantly,

Therefore, Be It Resolved that the Faculty Assembly of the University of North Carolina strongly urge the North Carolina General Assembly to enact the Board of Governors' 1995-97 Budget Request.
