WHEREAS, Ms. Leslie Winner has served with distinction for seven years as Vice President and General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources to the University of North Carolina, and
WHEREAS, during her tenure Leslie Winner provided leadership and legal counsel with the highest integrity not only to members of the General Administration, Board of Governors, and campus administrators, but also to the Faculty Assembly and its committees; and
WHEREAS, Leslie Winner worked tirelessly to address critical human resources issues such as the need to improve the state health care system for university employees, and to assure the safety of students, staff, and faculty on the UNC campuses; and
WHEREAS, Leslie Winner also brought to bear significant expertise drawn from her experience as a civil rights litigator, her distinguished service in the North Carolina Senate, and her work as general counsel to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, Leslie Winner will be leaving the University to serve as the Executive Director of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
The Faculty Assembly commends and thanks Ms. Leslie Winner for her outstanding dedication and leadership on behalf of all faculty at the University of North Carolina.
