WHEREAS, the Faculty Assembly Executive Committee in spring 2006 recommended that efforts be made to bolster collaboration between faculty leaders in the UNC and NC Community College Systems; and
 
WHEREAS, in response to this initiative, the Faculty Assembly’s Faculty Development Committee worked closely with faculty leaders of the NC Community College System to convene a joint Summer Institute in June 2007, focused on the need for seamlessness for students transferring credits between the Community College and University systems; and
 
WHEREAS, the Faculty Assembly’s Faculty Development Committee has reviewed the report developed by its chair, Meg Morgan, working with representatives of the Community College system, and
 
WHEREAS, the Faculty Assembly wishes to go on record as supporting the report and recommendations for further action developed by those responsible for 2007 Summer Institute;
 
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that
 
  1. The Faculty Assembly requests that the attached report of recommendations stemming from the joint Summer Institute on Seamlessness be transmitted to President Bowles and to the Faculty Senates;
  2. Expresses its appreciation for the important leadership by the chair of its Faculty Development Committee in fostering this important initiative; and
  3. Requests that General Administration provide adequate resources and related support for ongoing work in this area.
