Faculty Chair Involvement at Board of Trustees Meetings

WHEREAS, under The Code of The University of North Carolina each Board of Trustees shall promote the sound development of its institution and help maintain performance at a high level of excellence in every area of endeavor; and

WHEREAS, under The Code the chancellor shall ensure establishment of appropriate procedures within the institution to provide members of the faculty the means to give advice with respect to questions of academic policy and in institutional governance; and

WHEREAS, at several universities within The University of North Carolina the Faculty Chair is invited to speak regularly in open sessions of the Board of Trustees;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Faculty Assembly request that the President of the University recommend to the chancellors that the Board of Trustees provide Chairs of Faculty Senates/Councils the opportunity to speak to concerns of the faculty at Board of Trustee meetings.
