RESOLUTION CONCERNING DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS OF CANDIDATES FOR THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA SYSTEM

WHEREAS; The Faculty Assembly wishes to take every possible opportunity to assist the Board of Governors in the search for a President for the University System, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Faculty Assembly encourages the Search Committee to seek a President who:

1) Has a demonstrated record of significant accomplishment in administration and executive leadership in higher education, and a creative and visionary perspective for the future of the University of North Carolina;

2) Will provide strategic leadership and effectively articulate the mission of the University of North Carolina;

3) Has demonstrate a leadership style that emphasizes openness, consultation, and respect for the processes of shared governance.
