Sending an Email to Your Elected Officials

Although many legislators prefer to receive handwritten letters, sending an email message to your officials can be an effective method of communicating with your legislators.

When drafting your email message:

  • Be clear and concise.
  • Begin by introducing yourself and the issue you are writing about.
  • State your position on the issue.
  • Be direct and ask the legislator for action or support.
  • Thank them for supporting this crucial initiative.

A sample letter is available to assist you with writing a letter or email message to members of the General Assembly.
