The Office of University Affairs assists the University of North Carolina in achieving legislative objectives at the state and federal level. University Affairs serves as a liaison between the University and North Carolina's General Assembly, Congressional Delegation and other state and local governing bodies.

State Legislative Agenda

The Board of Governors approves the state legislative agenda for each year's legislative session. The Board bases the legislative agenda on some key principles found in the Board of Governors Strategic Priorities.

Each year, we ask the campuses to develop legislative priorities. The 2006 Non-Budget Legislative Priorities reflect those wishes and illustrate our successes in accomplishing those goals.

The following are some of the major issues facing the University System.

Overhead Receipts Tuition Policy and Practice
Distance Education Bond Program

State Budget Information

State funds provided as a part of UNC's basic budget establish the financial foundation that the University needs to serve its 190,000 students each year. Adequate state funding is essential in maintaining the access to a quality, low cost education that our citizens deserve.
