RFP Announcement

The Office of the President of the University of North Carolina is requesting proposals to support computational science, computer science, high performance computing, and information systems initiatives. The University wishes to encourage collaborative, multidisciplinary approaches to education and research.

This will be an opportunity for campuses of the University of North Carolina, in cooperation with independent and community colleges, to collaborate and share technical, education, and research expertise and resources. These initiatives will focus on developing advanced problem solving methods and innovative applications of computational science, computer science, high performance computing, and/or information systems. They will contribute toward the development of the North Carolina cyberinfrastructure and provide training and education in the application of one or more of these fields. . Each initiative will be a cooperative, multi-academic institutional effort, to include at least one UNC institution and one or more independent or community college in North Carolina. Up to four initiatives will be funded, each at a level between $250,000 and $400,000 per year for up to two years. Awards are expected to be announced by early April 2004 with funding beginning July 1, 2004.

The attached document gives the guidelines for University of North Carolina campuses to respond to this request for proposals.
