Video-conference schedule

UNC General Administration has two rooms configured for video-conferencing. The facilities are part of an intra-UNC video-conferencing network managed by the N.C. Research and Education Network (NCREN). The use of these facilities is limited, in most cases, to UNC General Administration employees, UNC-GA affiliates, and members of the UNC Board of Governors.

The video-conferencing facilities employ a data compression technology using a MPEG2 code, which provides a direct connection to other sites in the NCREN network which use this technology. In addition, the rooms can connect to sites on other video networks (i.e. N.C. Information Highway) and those using other video technologies (i.e. H.320 or ISDN dialup) by using NCREN as a gateway or bridge.

There is no charge for reserving or using the UNC video-conferencing facilities by members of the UNC community. There may be a line charge or connection fee for connection to conference sites outside of the NCREN network.
