This Commission, which was established by Executive Order in 1964 to administer the Higher Education Act of 1963, has since served as a facilities information coordinating office and survey center for public and private higher education institutions throughout North Carolina. In addition to supplying detailed statistical printouts and tables to each institution based on an annual data collection and analysis, the Commission office, a unit of the Finance Division located at UNC General Administration in Chapel Hill, also provides direct technical assistance to campuses for collecting/reporting of facilities data; data search services, software, special analyses, and other requested data processing services; and assistance in responding to inter-institutional or national comparative studies and surveys.
The annual survey of space designed to provide a snapshot of each campus's facilities inventory has previously been available only in hardcopy. This site is designed to allow anyone at each of the 16 constituent universities to view the building and room inventories of campuses that comprise the University of North Carolina system. For the first time in 2004, the building and room inventories from the 58 community colleges are available for viewing.
The yearly building and room reports for the 16 UNC campuses and the 58 community colleges can be viewed by clicking on the selections below. Historical data for the 16 campuses is available back to the 2003 data collection period. Historical data for the community colleges is available back to the 2004.
