Detailed statistical information concerning the success of students transferring from an institution in the NCCCS to any of the 16 institutions of the University of North Carolina
Explanatory Notes:
This report compares "first year of transfer" measures of academic performance among students transferring from a NCCCS institution with an associate degree to academic performance measures of native or "own" UNC students at the same point in their college career (junior year status)
  • Year (single): first year of attendance in a UNC institution beginning with the fall semester (attendance in a prior spring not included)
  • Year (multiple): aggregation of multiple years of attendance in a UNC institution as a transfer student beginning with the fall semester (attendance in a prior spring not included). Example: Fall 1991 through 1995 data represent a compilation of the first academic year attendance data for students transferring in the fall semesters of 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995
  • Community college selection: any of the 58 NCCCS institutions or summary of all combined. The NCCCS institution awarding the associate degree is the transfer institution of record
  • College Transfer Associate Degree Recipients: transfers from NCCCS institutions who were found to have been awarded a "college transfer" associate degree during either of the two academic years prior to first fall semester of transfer
  • Other Associate Degree Recipients: transfers from NCCCS institutions who were found to have been awarded an associate degree other than a "college transfer" associate degree during either of the two academic years prior to first fall semester of transfer
  • Own Students: students who entered the UNC institution as new freshmen and after 2 or 3 years of attendance have earned 55-70 hours credit (junior year status)
  • CC Transfers: NCCCS community college transfers who were found to have been awarded the associate degree within the previous two academic years (shown in the data table, these students are separated into groups of "College Transfer Associate Degree Recipients" and "Other Associate Degree Recipients," as defined above)
  • Junior Year Performance Measures
  • Percent returning for year 2: percent of students returning for the senior year immediately after the junior year in question
  • Percent returning for year 2 and GPA greater than or equal to 2.0: Percent of students returning for the senior year immediately after the junior year in question and having earned a GPA greater than or equal to 2.0 during the junior year
  • Average quality points earned: Average quality points earned during the junior year. The time periods shown in these reports include possible attendance in two regular semesters and one summer session for UNC native or "own" students, and possible attendance in two regular semesters and two summer sessions for community college transfer students
See footnotes on data table for additional explanatory notes

NOTE: To prevent the possibility of identifying individuals in cells with a number less than 3, the performance data for these cells has been replaced with an asterisk
