Having trouble printing and/or displaying student performance reports? Here are some tips that may help:
1. Print in Landscape mode.
In your print setup (or page setup), change the orientation from "Portrait" to "Landscape." This will print the page using the long portion of the page.
2. Decrease your browser's font size.
If you are using Netscape 4.0 or higher and Windows, pressing the "Ctrl" key and the "[" key simultaneously will decrease the font temporarily. This can also be achieved by going to "View" on the menu bar and selecting "Decrease Font." Keep decreasing it until it is the desired size. This may not translate to the printed page, however. If the above does not work or you are using another Netscape browser, select "Edit" from the file menu. Then select "Preferences." Under "Appearance," select "Fonts." Change your Fixed-Width Font to a smaller size like 8 or 9. On older versions of Netscape, select "Options" on the file menu and then select "General Preferences." Select the "Font" tab and change your Fixed-Width Font to a smaller size.
If you are using Internet Explorer for Windows, select "View" from the menu bar and then "Fonts" or "Text Size." Select "smaller" or "smallest."
If you are using Internet Explorer 5.x for Macintosh, select "View" from the menu bar and then "Text Zoom." Select a percentage lower than 100 and change it if the desired results are not achieved.
3. Change your Fixed-Width Font to "Courier." This will keep the report's columns lined up correctly.
If you are still having trouble printing, make sure that your Fixed-Width Font is set to "Courier" or "Courier New." Some font faces may print larger than others. If using Netscape, change the font face in the same location as font size (as described in no. 2).
If you are using Internet Explorer 4.x for Windows, select "View" from the menu bar and then "Options..." On the "General" tab there is a button in the right bottom corner called "Font Settings." Select it and change your Fixed-Width Font to "Courier".
If you are using Internet Explorer 5.x for Windows, select "Tools" from the menu bar and then "Internet Options..." On the "General" tab there is a button at the bottom called "Fonts." Select it and change your Plain Text Font to "Courier".
If you are using Internet Explorer 5.x for Macintosh, select "Edit" from the menu bar and then "Preferences..." Select "Languages/Fonts" from the list at left. Change your Monospace Font to "Courier".
4. Use "Print Preview" when available. This will help save paper.
If you are using Internet Explorer for Macintosh, select "File" from the menu bar and then "Print Preview."
If you are using Netscape for Windows, select "File" from the menu bar and then "Print Preview."
If you are using Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher for Windows, select "File" from the menu bar and then "Print Preview."
"Print Preview." is not available in Netscape for Macintosh (4.7 latest browser version at time of writing). It is also not available in Internet Explorer for Windows prior to version 5.5.
