| Project Description | | One-Two Sentences
This project is mandated by the Federal Communications
Commission's (FCC) Broadcast Incentive Auction and
Post-Auction Transition. It involves the installation of
broadcast transmission equipment and supporting systems at
each of 11 UNC-TV locations in North Carolina, including the
installation of two high power television transmitters, two
antenna systems, transmission line, and other associated
equipment. Existing utility power, backup diesel generator
systems, and panel boards will need to be surveyed and plans
developed to accommodate new transmitter products and their
subsystems, yet to be specifically determined. Funding
sources involve reimbursement from the FCC and
non-reimbursable work which will require separate
identification and accounting. Additional work, including
the installation of Uninterruptable Power Supplies and new
generator systems, may also be required. Completion of the
transmitter re-channel project is required in the third
quarter of 2019 in compliance with FCC requirements as
spelled in their Post-Auction Transition program. | |
