 Project Description One-Two Sentences
A pre-proposal meeting will be held on May 10, 2016 at 9:00 am. Meet in the main floor elevator lobby in the Health Sciences Library, 335 S. Columbia Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 Elevators #6434, #9624 & Elevator #7255 Repairs - Health Sciences Library and Morehead Planetarium and Science Center Addition This project will address elevator machine deficiencies and safety concerns for three campus elevators. -Elevators #6434 and #9624, located in the Health Sciences Library, are frequently utilized by students and staff. These elevators are electric traction type units that were installed in 1980. These elevators will be fully modernized, including rebuilding the cabs of these two units and replacing the analog logic controls with digital systems. The drive gear will also be updated to be compatible with the new controls system. - Elevator #7255, located in the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center Addition, was installed in 1973. It has a single-bottom jack that will be replaced with a dual wall hydraulic cylinder to address safety concerns. This unit also will require minor repairs to the cab and controls. Options for full modernization of this unit will also be investigated.
