Project Description | One-Two Sentences 1. Review of past studies including data from the 2010
Master Plan
-Review of prior facilities conditions assessments with
update by the consultants (including estimates of probable
costs)
2.Review of current conditions
Collections space
-Projected flow of new-to-collection, non-digital materials
(books, journals, manuscripts, photographs,
-Quantity, extent, and type of material appropriate for
discard
-Quantity, extent, and type of material for conventional
stack storage
-Quantity, extent, and type of materials for alternative
storage
Student/public space utilization
-Review of Ethnography Project data on library use
-Service Points
-Staff spaces
-Configuration of library staff offices to co-locate staff
and units
-Review workflow efficiency re: collections, service points,
interdepartmental work
-Non-library building use
-Review of plans relating to current Atkins Library tenants:
Career Services, Counseling, ITS, Broadcast Communication
-Review of potential for future tenants
3. Review of Projected needs
-Review of the vision/ program ideas currently held by the
Atkins Library leadership with input/ ideas/ examples of
best practices from recent library projects provided by the
consultant's team.
-Building infrastructure needs such as elevators,
electricity, leaky roof.
-Review of anticipated library staffing, collections,
service, and student space needs forward to10 years in the
future.
-Programming effort based on these discussions.
Modern library functions and how vacated stack space could
begin to accommodate new program space. | |||||
