1. Briefly describe the proposed program and intended audience.

The BIS degree program is designed exclusively for students holding an Applied Associate Degree from an accredited 2 year institution of higher education.  The proposed offering is intended for residents of Robeson and immediate surrounding counties holding or preparing to graduate with such a degree.  Only certain BIS Majors and specified Tracks are to be offered on the Lumberton, NC, campus of Robeson Community college, as follows:

BIS MAJOR           TRACK___________________

Applied Professional Studies Allied Health Leadership

Financial Administration

Office Administration

Criminal Justice Applied Information Technology

Sociology

Public and Non-Profit Admin. Allied Health Administration

Financial Administration

2. Describe the proposed instructional delivery systems (e.g., on-site instruction by faculty, interactive video, Internet, etc.).

The BIS degree will be offered primarily as a face-to-face, on-site program at Robeson Community College. This is the same delivery format that is used when offering this degree program at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.  Further, this primary face-to-face instructional delivery modality is similar to that at other existing UNC Pembroke’s distance education sites (Sandhills Community College and Richmond Community College).  Although the Robeson Community College programs will be offered face-to-face, the students will have access to university learning resources, computer labs and other information technology services at the site and through The University main campus at Pembroke, as in the case of other programs currently being offered at the other two sites. Online and hybrid methodologies are also available for our students at community-college settings.  Therefore, some courses may be offered 100% online and/or via a hybrid mode of delivery format.

3. Describe need for the program (referencing results of surveys or special studies).

Several meetings with Robeson Community College faculty and administrators supported the need for the program.  This program will provide graduates with the Applied Associate Degree a path to the baccalaureate degree.

4. Projected total annual enrollment:
Year 1:20
Year 2:40
Year 3:50
Year 4:50
Year 5:
his intent to plan a new distance education degree program (or program site) has been reviewed and approved by the appropriate campus committees and authorities.
