| The proposed program is a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education, General Curriculum delivered completely on-line. The intended audience is students involved in the 2 + 2 programs from our community college partners. | |

| The need for the program is great. UNCP has a profound commitment to the distinct cultural and regional area to deliver educational opportunities. As of December, 2008, there were 39 immediate openings for licensed special education teachers in the seven county area surrounding UNCP. There are two other universities in the UNC system that offer a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education, General Curriculum on-line. Those universities are East Carolina University and Appalachian State University. | |
