Dr. Mabe leads the development and implementation of the academic mission of the University of North Carolina. He advises the UNC President and the Board of Governors on academic issues. He works with the Chancellors and Chief Academic Officers of the seventeen constituent institutions in the implementation and assessment of University-wide initiatives in academic affairs. All of the following reside in Academic Affairs: Research and Sponsored Programs, Academic Planning, Academic and Students Affairs, University-School Programs, Institutional Research and Analysis, Access and Outreach, Faculty Support, International Programs, the Academic Common Market, and Licensure.
Lisa AdamsonMs. Adamson maintains the Senior Vice President’s calendar, scheduling meetings, events, travel, etc. as needed; compiles meeting materials and attends division staff meetings; prepares materials relating to issues concerning the Committee on Personnel and Tenure and disseminates same to the Board of Governors and appropriate staff; and attends meetings of the Committee on Personnel and Tenure and prepares meeting minutes and reports to the campuses on related actions.
Ms. Derr works with senior campus international leaders who comprise the multi-campus University Council for International Programs to coordinate efforts to improve internationalization of campus activities and to facilitate collaborative efforts among campuses. She also supports activities of the UNC Exchange Program in developing and maintaining system-wide international partners.
Ms. Gregory supports the Faculty Assembly and the University Library Advisory Council and coordinates the Board of Governors' Awards for Excellence in Teaching.
The Vice President for Academic Planning and University-School Programs is responsible for University-wide academic planning, working with the sixteen UNC campuses to help shape the future direction of academic programs. He/she oversees enrollment planning, academic accountability and assessment, program implementation, and the development and production of the UNC Board of Governors’ Long-Range Plan. He/she staffs the Board’s Committee on Educational Planning, Policies, and Programs and oversees the development of special studies and reports. His/her responsibilities in the University-School Programs area include working with the Council of Education Deans in their initiatives to produce more and better teachers for North Carolina, and with the Center for School Leadership Development in their initiatives to enhance leadership in public schools.
Ms. Chapman responds to K-16 education system initiatives, policy implementation, and legislation impacting teacher and school leader preparation and development throughout the University.
Mr. Dean coordinates the Southern Regional Education Board’s Academic Common Market for the State of North Carolina. He is also a web content manager for Academic Affairs, edits reports and other documents for presentation or publication, prepares presentation slides for staff members, and designs, prints, and electronically scans student survey instruments and other questionnaires for data capture.
Dr. Prochaska oversees the licensure of non-public and out-of-state institutions seeking to offer post-secondary degree programs in North Carolina. This includes institutional site visits, recommendations for licensure, policy interpretations and changes, and overall guidance for consumer protection. He also assists the Vice President for Academic Planning and University-School Programs in liaising with the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and helps to address accreditation issues involving the University's constituent institutions. Dr. Prochaska is UNC General Administration's representative to the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB's) Educational Technology Cooperative.
Ms. Ryan coordinates the licensure of non-public and out-of-state institutions to conduct post-secondary degree activity in North Carolina. She produces reports on workforce studies in support of assessment of the need for degree programs. She works on a range of K-12 improvement initiatives.
Dr. Sadler coordinates planning for distance education in the 16-campus UNC system and oversees the authorization process for off-campus degree programs and on-campus baccalaureate and master’s degree programs. He reviews and analyzes enrollment projections and helps develop the biennial UNC Long-Range Planning document and the enrollment funding model for distance education. He oversees Institutional Research and Analysis.
Ms. Thompson is primary support for the Vice President and is office manager for Academic Planning and University-School Programs. She helps staff the Board of Governors’ Committee on Educational Planning, Policies, and Programs, supports the UNC Deans’ Council on Teacher Education, and serves as Human Resources Consultant for Academic Planning.
Dr. Mallette is responsible for leading the University of North Carolina's divisions of Academic and Student Affairs and Access and Outreach. In this capacity, Dr. Mallette serves as the Chief Student Affairs Officer of the University, is the Principal Investigator for the GEAR UP North Carolina and North Carolina College Access Challenge Grants, and is the primary education representative to the CFNC partnership.
Mr. Broadhurst primarily works with the GEAR UP North Carolina Research and Evaluation team. In this role, he assists with the oversight of GEAR UP North Carolina services provided to students and parents or guardians. In addition, he also assists with the implementation of the North Carolina College Access Challenge Grant.
Dr. Bundy supervises the UNCG graduate assistants who respond to questions about college and career planning from students, parents, and educators across the state. In addition, she writes and revises publications on topics related to career and college planning and manages inventory and fulfillment. She works with the development of curriculum materials and with other CFNC partners on initiatives such as NC College Application Week.
Ms. Caperton is responsible for the daily operations of the GEAR UP North Carolina office and team. In these efforts, she advises the 20 school districts served through the state grant in the development of their annual GEAR UP budget requests and work plans. In addition, she monitors school district programming and expenditures to ensure all are in line with federal and state guidelines and regulations.
Dr. Dixon works with the Senior Associate Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs as the liaison between General Administration and the seventeen constituent institutions on issues related to university policies regarding admissions, access, financial aid, athletics, student health, campus safety, retention, disability student services, and the development of student leadership. She also serves as the UNC system representative for the Transfer Advisory Committee (TAC).
Mr. English oversees all technology and internet efforts affiliated with CFNC.org, including the overall strategic direction of the planning and applying portions of CNFC.org. While technology is the centerpiece of the program, Mr. English is also instrumental in the outreach efforts of CFNC, including training, curriculum development, partnerships, operations and marketing. Mr. English also works closely with issues related to Admissions and Enrollment Management.
Ms. Frediani provides administrative support to the Director of the CFNC Resource Center by facilitating financial and personnel processes, managing projects, and working with undergraduate student and temporary staff.
Ms. Graham provides technical assistance for program design, development, implementation, and sustainability to participating eastern GEAR UP North Carolina school district administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, GEAR UP North Carolina coordinators, and business and community leaders. Ms. Graham works collaboratively to assist with expansion planning and implementation.
Ms. Greene oversees the technical development, support, and training of the program serving all 110 college and universities in the State as well as the user community of students, parents, and secondary and postsecondary education professionals. Ms. Greene also manages the partner and technology efforts of the statewide online application and electronic high school transcript systems.
Ms. Harris provides administrative support to the CFNC Technology & Internet Services staff, assisting in the successful implementation of programs and projects. Ms. Harris also works closely with Senior Acadademic & Student Affairs staff members.
Mr. Lane provides technical assistance for program design, development, implementation, and sustainability to participating western GEAR UP North Carolina school district administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, GEAR UP North Carolina coordinators, and business and community leaders. Mr. Lane works collaboratively to assist with expansion planning and implementation.
Mr. Lillis works primarily as the liason between the CFNC user community and the technical staff at College Foundation, Inc. Mr. Lillis is responsible for the developing prototypes and functional specifications for all CFNC.org projects.
Ms. Lloyd assists with the coordination of statewide activities hosted by GEAR UP North Carolina including College Application Week, campus enrichment programs for GEAR UP students, the North Carolina College Access Conference, and professional development opportunities hosted by central office for GEAR UP colleagues in the field.
Ms. McMillan works with the GEAR UP North Carolina Research and Evaluation team. Ms. McMillan is responsible for GEAR UP North Carolina survey development, administration, and reporting. In addition, she assists with data management and coordination of research and evaluation projects.
Ms. Prosser is responsible for managing relationships with the 110 North Carolina colleges and universities participating in the CFNC partnership. This includes the development and delivery of training on the administrative functions of the CFNC.org site, assisting users in the use of system, and serving as a key member of the CFNC Technology & Internet Services team.
Ms. Robinson provides financial oversight to the Access & Outreach division of UNC General Administration for all state and federal accounts, ensuring that all expenditures meet federal and state guidelines. Her primary responsibilities are with GEAR UP North Carolina, Pathways, and the North Carolina College Access Challenge Grant.
Ms. Samek shares the powerful career and college planning resources of CFNC.org with school counselors and other educators throughout North Carolina. She coordinates regional and school district training opportunities to provide hands-on exploration of CFNC.org, training materials and lesson plans, and implementation strategies. Ms. Samek works collaboratively to provide career and college planning experiences for elementary students through adults.
Ms. Tillery oversees the research and evaluation of GEAR UP North Carolina. Ms. Tillery has been instrumental in developing a statewide GEAR UP data tracking system that is currently being redesigned as a statewide pre-college program data tracking system. Ms. Tillery is responsible for reporting data to the U.S. Department of Education and school districts on GEAR UP North Carolina goals and objectives.
Ms. Weaver provides career and college planning services focused on Latinos in North Carolina. She advocates for understanding and increased awareness of the barriers Latinos face in higher education, as well as providing Spanish-language web and print information, workshops, telephone and email support for Latino students and their families.
Mr. Wiles leads the CFNC Resource Center team in carrying out five primary program areas: Publications, Educator Training, Contact Center (CFNC.org and UNC Online), Spanish Services, and Career and College Planning Curricula. He works closely with the Senior Associate Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs and in concert with CFNC partners and educators statewide on initiatives to improve college access.
Ms. Williamson oversees the development and implementation of the CFNC Transfer Articulation System. In this role, she is responsible for working with contracted vendor and technical staff at College Foundation, Inc. to ensure the technical components of the project are delivered correctly, providing overall project management, and developing and delivering training on the use of the system.
Mr. Brown's primary responsibility is to provide technical leadership in the use of SAS software to collect, edit, and produce information from the Division databases by creating web data collection screens containing edits of the data as entered, creating web screens to access the Division databases, and investigating the use of SAS software to produce output in both printed and web form.
Ms. Cooke assists the Director of Space Utilization and Analysis in the collection and publication of space inventory and utilization data for all 17 constituent institutions in the UNC system, the 58 community colleges, and the participating private institutions in North Carolina.
Ms. Dow coordinates and supervises the collection and analysis of data for the North Carolina Higher Education Data (NCHED) and other data collection efforts from the 17 constituent UNC campuses, the NCCCS, and other private institutions of higher education in North Carolina. She prepares the Applications/Acceptances report, Administrative Salary Study, SHEEO-SHEF report, and assists with the submission of CSRDE data. Ms. Dow produces the annual Statistical Abstract, Record Layouts, and provides tabular and graphic presentations for use by the Division. Ms. Dow serves as Human Resources Facilitator and Web Content Manager for the Division.
Mr. Dunston assists with the coordination of the data management and quality efforts of the Division to ensure accurate data for tracking systems by performing audits and analyses on all data files collected by the Division.
Ms. Fulcher identifies, collects, cleans, and maintains the system-wide data needed for University management processes and the completion of internal and external reporting requirements. Ms. Fulcher is responsible for designing, writing, and maintaining new and existing computer programs to support the Institutional Research and Analysis Division, other divisions of UNC-GA, the 17 institutions of the University of North Carolina, and the general public.
Ms. Haywood’s primary responsibility is to provide leadership in the collection, documentation, maintenance, and use of the information databases kept by the Division. She is responsible for the design, integration, and management of all of the data files collected from the the 17 constituent UNC campuses, NCCCS, NC State agencies, and Federal agencies and maintained by the division. Mrs. Haywood oversees the design and interface of these different data files using common elements in order to produce reports for UNC-GA staff, the NC General Assembly, Board of Governors, Federal Government, the media, NCSDPI, NCCCS, and the general public.
Mr. Helton coordinates the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) web-based collections for the UNC system institutions and serves as keyholder for the IPEDS surveys that UNC General Administration is required to complete. He works with the 17 UNC system institutional research offices in collecting, editing, data-cleansing, and reporting of Student Data Files for applied, enrolled, and graduated students.
Mr. Hill coordinates the collection and publication of space inventory and utilization data for all 17 constituent institutions in the UNC system, the 58 community colleges, and the participating private institutions in North Carolina. He also maintains the Facilities Condition Assessment Program (FCAP) database on which repair and renovation funding allocations are based.
Ms. Johnson oversees the designing, writing, testing, modifying, and debugging of computer programs, creating test data and devising test plans for checking the accuracy of new and existing programs, analyzing project requests, designing input and output specifications, and providing consultation to users to provide technical assistance when needed.
Ms. Kwon supervises the programming staff and oversees the collection of all data files used by the division. She leads the design, integration, and management of data collection, editing, and reporting tools used with the data files collected and maintained by the division.
Mahmud MansarayMr. Mansaray is responsible for coordinating the UNC system student surveys. Currently, standard surveys are administered to entering freshmen, sophomores and graduating seniors. Mr. Mansaray works closely with the UNC campuses during the development and collection of survey data, analyzes the collected data and produces user-friendly reports for the UNC – General Administration, campus staff, and the public. In addition, Mr. Mansaray conducts institutional research projects on policy and accountability analyses, among other things, independently or with colleagues at General Administration or from other agencies, using internal and external data.
Cheryl McDonaldMs. McDonald provides administrative support for the Institutional Research and Analysis Division and to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Research and Analysis. She coordinates and supports all activities of the Division/Associate Vice President.
Dr. Xiaoyun YangDr. Yang is responsible for data compilation, presentation, and analyses associated with UNC system wide Accountability Plan and Performance Measures. She produces reports related to policy issues; identifies research opportunities, designs and conducts studies with appropriate GA staff and/or external parties and provides analyses of the data to guide internal management decision-making; and coordinates specialized data collection activities.
Dr. Leath promotes research and sponsored programs across the full spectrum of academic disciplines and interdisciplinary activities carried out by UNC’s sixteen university campuses. He helps advocate for increased levels of external support from federal, state, and private sources and works closely with the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and campus research administrators to develop research and sponsored program activity in support of each campus’s mission.
Ms. Smith provides UNC General Administration and constituent institutions with a range of pre- and post- award services for externally funded projects. Services include identification of potential funding sources, direction of the grant application process, support for adherence to a variety of compliance activities, and provision of training and support.
Dr. Thornton coordinates multi-campus efforts to improve research administration in areas of strategic importance, including centers and institutes, technology transfer, and inter-institutional collaborations. She also manages responses to external requests regarding research expertise across the University, as well as levels and sources of funding.
Ms. Bristow assists with special initiatives as well as external requests for information on UNC research by creating topical and audience-specific communications. She also maintains the UNC Research and Sponsored Programs web site.
Ms. Rich maintains the appointment calendar for the Vice President for Research and assists with scheduling meetings and coordinating meeting materials, audio/visual presentations, location, travel, and budget. She also manages listservs and contact information for Chief Research Officers, SPARC contacts, and technology transfer officers.
Ms. Wright works closely with Sarah Smith, Director of Sponsored Programs, to support sponsored program efforts at UNC General Administration.
