EDUmetric is a college preparatory data management system that stores information for precollege programs across North Carolina. These programs help students and their families prepare for, apply to, finance, and succeed in postsecondary education. Many of these programs focus particularly on increasing the participation of economically disadvantaged, first generation, and other populations typically underrepresented in college.

The precollege programs using EDUmetric engage in a range of activities and services including tutoring, financial planning for college, academic enrichment programming, college and career counseling, and college application and enrollment support. They collect data about individual students, student services, parent services, professional development activities, assessments, and academics. Common student-level data sets include academic progress while in high school; PSAT/SAT scores; and college enrollment, persistence, and graduation.

EDUmetric offers a customized dashboard and data field set to meet each precollege program's needs. This collected information can be easily manipulated by program staff, making rich assessment and evaluation possible, and helping the precollege programs maximize effectiveness and efficiency, increase accuracy, and streamline data collection and reporting.  so formative, data-driven decisions can be made and the long-term impact of precollege programming quantified.

The college preparatory data management system was developed in 2006 by the University of North Carolina General Administration in an effort to better coordinate precollege initiatives across North Carolina. The initial development of the database was funded by GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Program) North Carolina, and the expansion of the database, including its branding as EDUmetric, was funded by the North Carolina College Access Challenge Grant (CACG). GEAR UP North Carolina and NC CACG are both U.S. Department of Education programs, and both are administered by the University of North Carolina General Administration.

The first programs to be integrated into the EDUmetric database were the GEAR UP North Carolina and GEAR UP Partnership programs. GEAR UP began their integration into the database in 2006, and by 2011 four GEAR UP programs with over 25,000 students were using EDUmetric. In 2011 the NC CACG program began funding the integration of additional precollege programs into EDUmetric.
